K-L-D charts. These guides are helped to direct you through the reflections of the material as you learn it. There are two print buttons on this slide. The Print button on the left brings up a document that explains the K-L-D chart. Open it, close it, ignore it. The Print button on the right brings up the chart. There is a copy of it in your blue binder. You can print the K-L-D chart from this window if it is more convenient. The question you are supposed to answer in the K column is What Is Authentic Intellectual Work?

Topic 2.1.2: What Is the Teacher Experience?. Complete the activity there that continues onto page 8. Use your notes to create a Learning Log entry labeled "Teacher Reflection".

Create a brief Learning Log entry describing your rationale for picking these 6 students. Label the entry with a header "Student Focus Group Protocol."

The notes from the interview will serve as fodder for you to create a Learning Log entry. Label the entry with a header of "Student Interviews."

This slide directs you to read or listen to an article called Teaching Authentically in the Mathematics Classroom. You can download and listen to the mp3 version of the article.

This slide directs you to read an article called Examples of Authentic Mathematics Instruction. Read this one pretty carefully. This pre-discussion activity that will ensue is based on this article and you will soon do a discussion posting for it. There is no audio version for this article. You are then directed to page 11 of your green folder to where it says Pre-Discussion Activity: Examples of Authentic Teaching. It will tell you to print and read the article. (You just did this though. I guess the directions are a little out of order.) Now here is the confusing part. There is one chart on page 11 that you are supposed to use to analyze the lesson examples in the article. Since they did not give you a lot of room in the chart to analyze the examples, just pick one example lesson and analyze that using the table in the green folder. The middle column asks you to The far right column asks you to use the Range of Instructional Practice Chart to do some analysis of your lesson. The chart can be found by clicking here.

This slide directs you to take your analysis you just completed in your green folder and post discussion content on it. Go to the discussion board. There is a dicussion started there that says Click on this Discussion Thread. Don't start a new one.

From here you will print a sample assessment and then go to the middle of page 15 in your green folder. Use the sample assessment and what you learned in the articles to complete the exercise there. At the end of the exercise you will answer a few questions and then make a Learning Log entry. Label the entry with the heading Assessment Adaptation.

This slide directs you to print a sample performance assessment. You then need to go to page 19 to where it says Prediscussion Activity: Performance Assessment Task. Complete the activity there that continues onto the middle of page 20. Return to the online course from here.

This slide directs you to do a web search for Authentic Assessments. Click the search button on the slide. It will generate a search for math authentic assessments. Then, go to your green folder to page 20 where it says Web Research Activity: Authentic Assessment. Answer the questions there.

This slide directs you to stay in your green folder at page 21 near the bottom. Complete the exercise in which you are asked to adapt/develop an assessment to make it authentic. At the conclusion of this, you will be asked to post a Learning Log entry. Start the entry with the header Implement an Authentic Assessment.
